Hi, I’m the owner of Western Meadowlark Contracting. I have been a carpenter for over a decade. I’ve worked for different contractors from residential to commercial before deciding to start my own company. Things I enjoy about this line of work is that everyday is different. New projects, new ideas, new people, we’re constantly on the go. I love the challenge of it as well. Some guys enjoy doing one thing, siding, roofing, tile etc. I like that I can change it up, one day I’m siding, the next I’m painting, then I’m building custom furniture, framing a house or a shop, or building a deck. The possibilities are endless. I also enjoy that running a business allows me to spend more time with my family. I have been married to my wife Emily for 13 years, three sons, Frederick (9), Walther (3), Otto (almost a year). The boys love to be able to come to work with me when they can.

My wife Emily and I

A smiling baby with missing front teeth, reaching up with one hand, indoors with blurry furniture and a wall in the background.

My youngest Otto, he hasn’t been able to help with much except smiles.

Here is Frederick and Walther “helping” on a deck project.

A young child dressed in a dark hoodie and tan pants standing on a construction site with unfinished wooden railing and plywood floor, holding a rake, with a clear blue sky and leafless trees in the background.

Walther was having fun helping me waterproof the second floor of my chicken barn! He was mad when the project was done.

A person lying on a roof installing new shingles with a hat on and tools beside them, with the sky and trees in the background.

And here is Fred “Helping” on a roof. I promise they don’t work too hard.
